Dell XPS and Aurora Compatibility

This 460W power supply unit is built for Dell XPS 8910, 8920, 8300, 8500, 8700 and 8900 desktops as well as Aurora R5 and R6 systems. It delivers a 12V output with an 80 Plus Gold efficiency rating. The unit suits owners replacing a failed or ageing PSU in those specific chassis. Builders using other platforms or custom cases should look elsewhere.

Included Package and Fixed Cabling

The supplier lists the package as included, meaning the unit ships with its standard cable loom. Because the design is non-modular, every lead is permanently attached; unused connectors must be tucked away inside the case. This simplifies installation for a direct swap but reduces cable-routing flexibility compared with modular alternatives.

Desktop Form Factor and Input Range

The PSU adopts a standard desktop form factor and accepts a 100-240V AC input, making it compatible with mains supplies worldwide. Gold-rated efficiency lowers waste heat and running costs under typical loads. The fixed, non-modular construction means cable bulk is constant, so installers should verify clearance in the target Dell or Aurora chassis before fitting.

Questions about this item

Will the 12 V rail on this 460 W unit need re-capping or fan replacement after a few years?

The supply is a non-modular 80 Plus Gold unit rated for 301–400 W continuous output; electrolytic capacitors and the internal fan are the parts most likely to require replacement over time.

What sustained load hits the 400 W rating limit before the 460 W peak is reached?

Continuous draws above 400 W exceed the rated power band, so the 400 W figure is the practical ceiling for all-day operation.

How much heat and fan noise appear when the unit runs at 301–400 W all day?

At 80 Plus Gold efficiency the supply wastes a measurable portion of input power as heat, so continuous loads in the 301–400 W range produce noticeable warmth and the internal fan will run audibly.
