Proximity reader for building access cards
The RF IDEAS RDR-6781AKU is a USB proximity reader designed for workplaces that already use physical access cards. It lets staff reuse their existing badge for PC login, time-tracking or other identification tasks without issuing new credentials. The device works with the wide installed base of proximity cards already in circulation.
Plug-and-play setup with flash configuration
The reader enumerates as a standard USB device so no driver installation is required on modern operating systems. Output format is stored in on-board flash memory and can be reconfigured quickly to match the needs of different applications. Misconfiguration of the output template is the most common issue and can be resolved by re-flashing the desired layout.
USB interface limits cable length and power
Operation relies on the USB bus for both communication and power, so cable runs are restricted to the standard USB length limits. The reader draws its operating current from the host port and does not support external power adapters. It is not suited for installations that require longer cable distances or standalone operation without a host computer.
