What this RFID reader does

The RF IDEAS RDR-7512AKU pcProx 82 Series reads 13.56 MHz CSN credentials and connects through a vertical USB nano form factor. It is built for access-control and identity-verification workflows in office, healthcare or education environments. The compact black housing suits space-constrained workstations and kiosks.

Sustained scanning behaviour

During continuous operation the reader maintains steady 13.56 MHz CSN reads without the drop-off seen in short-burst tests. The USB nano interface delivers consistent power and data throughput for long shifts at point-of-sale or check-in stations. Thermal performance stays stable inside the sealed vertical enclosure.

Check your setup first

Verify that your host system has an available USB-A port and supports standard HID keyboard emulation for the CSN output. Confirm the mounting orientation fits the vertical nano profile on your desk or terminal. Buyers who need long-range reading or multi-frequency support should look elsewhere.

Questions about this item

How much heat does the 13.56 MHz reader generate during continuous all-day operation?

The USB nano form factor draws minimal bus power, so it stays cool to the touch even after 24 hours of non-stop scanning.

What host connection must the workstation already provide for the RDR-7512AKU to function?

A single free USB port is all that is required; the reader is powered and communicates entirely over that interface.

Will the 82 Series reader read legacy cards that were enrolled on an older 13.56 MHz system?

It reads the CSN from standard 13.56 MHz credentials, so most existing badges and fobs present their serial number without re-enrolment.
