Dual-band 2.4/5 GHz Wi-Fi antenna with 7 dBi gain and RP-SMA connector for Wi-Fi 4, Wi-Fi 5, and Wi-Fi 6 routers
This dual-band antenna replaces the stock whip on routers and access points that use an RP-SMA female jack. It covers the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz unlicensed bands used by Wi-Fi 4, Wi-Fi 5 and Wi-Fi 6 equipment. The flexible rubber-duck body tilts and swivels so you can orient the element for best coverage. Installation is a simple screw-on swap with no tools required.
As a passive antenna it draws no power and adds no fan noise or heat to the system. The 7 dBi figure represents directional gain over an isotropic radiator, concentrating signal toward the horizon rather than boosting total output power. Because it is receive-reciprocal, both transmit range and receive sensitivity improve in the favoured direction. No driver, firmware or configuration change is needed on the host device.
The jump is worth it when the supplied antennas are non-removable, limited to 2 dBi or mounted in a metal enclosure that blocks radiation. It also helps when a single access point must reach a distant room or outdoor area without adding a second node. Buyers who need MIMO streams beyond what one element provides, or who require a weather-sealed outdoor radome, should look for multi-element or IP-rated kits instead.

Screw the RP-SMA male plug clockwise onto the router's RP-SMA female jack until finger-tight; the reverse-polarity pin must align with the jack's centre socket, and over-tightening with tools can strip the threads.
The flexible rubber duck radome can be wiped clean with a damp cloth; inspect the hinge for stiffness and the RP-SMA threads for corrosion, replacing the antenna if the swivel loosens or the connector shows green oxidation.
The 7 dBi gain focuses signal horizontally, so extended range comes at the cost of reduced vertical coverage; clients directly above or below the antenna will see weaker signal before the radio's own thermal limits are reached.
