This set contains four alloy-steel dies cut to 11-1/2 threads per inch for right-hand NPT pipe threads. It fits Ridgid universal die heads used on threading machine series 1215, 1224, 300 and 535. The dies handle pipe diameters from 1 in. to 2 in. in aluminum or steel.

Practical limits of the NPT standard

NPT threads rely on taper engagement, so the dies only produce the 11-1/2 TPI profile required for that standard. They will not cut straight threads, metric threads or left-hand threads. The dies are restricted to the listed Ridgid machine series; other threader brands or die-head models will not accept them.

Installation notes and common issues

Each die drops into the universal die-head slots and locks with the head’s built-in clamp — no extra tools are needed. The most frequent problem is installing a die backwards, which cuts a left-hand thread instead of the required right-hand thread.
