Adds six SATA III ports via a PCIe x4 slot using the ASM1166 chipset for broad OS support
Model 6 Ports
This RIITOP controller adds six 6 Gbps SATA III ports through a single PCI Express x4 slot using the ASMedia ASM1166 chipset. It is designed for builders who need to connect multiple hard drives or SSDs to a desktop, workstation or NAS platform. The card fits x4, x8 or x16 slots and operates with native AHCI support across Windows, Linux and macOS without extra drivers.
The board provides six AHCI ports and supports port-multiplier command-based switching, making it a good match for JBOD arrays, software RAID setups or simple drive multiplication. It cannot perform hardware RAID on its own; systems that need RAID must rely on the motherboard firmware or host-based software. Buyers who require a dedicated RAID processor or bootable hardware arrays should look at a different controller.
The ASM1166 chip delivers a native PCI Express 3.0 x4 host connection and six downstream SATA 3.0 ports that are backward compatible with 1.5 and 3.0 Gbps drives. This single-chip design determines the maximum aggregate bandwidth and the number of drives you can attach directly.

Other versions of this model
The card fits PCIe x4, x8 or x16 slots and is compliant with PCI Express 3.0 standards.
The ASM1166 chipset is backward compatible with SATA I/II at 1.5 and 3.0 Gbps, so legacy drives function normally.
The card appears as six AHCI SATA III ports in your OS without needing a driver, and Port Multiplier command-based switching is supported.
