What this cable does and who needs it

This USB-C to USB-C cable delivers up to 100 W of power and 20 Gbps data transfer when used with Thunderbolt 3 ports. It suits owners of MacBook Pro models from 2016 to 2019, iPad Pro 2018, recent Chromebooks, Samsung Galaxy Note 10 series and Google Pixel 2 through 3a XL who want a single braided lead for charging and fast file moves.

Practical limits of the USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 interface

The 20 Gbps rate only appears when both host and device support Thunderbolt 3; otherwise the link runs at 10 Gbps. Video output requires the source port to implement DisplayPort Alternate Mode, so the 2018 iPad Pro cannot drive an external display through this cable. Actual throughput always depends on the connected hardware.

Check your setup before ordering

Verify that your charger and device both support USB Power Delivery 3.0 at 20 V / 5 A to reach the 100 W rating. Confirm the USB-C port on your laptop or tablet offers DisplayPort Alternate Mode if you plan to connect a 4 K or 5 K monitor. The cable is 5 ft long and uses male-to-male connectors only.
