USB 3.0 Type-A extension pair

This two-pack provides 1 ft red cables that extend a USB 3.0 Type-A port. Each cable has a male plug on one end and a female receptacle on the other. The short length suits tight spaces behind desks or inside enclosures. Gold-plated contacts and a nylon braid aim to reduce wear on the host port.

5 Gbps SuperSpeed ceiling

The cables operate at the USB 3.0 SuperSpeed limit of 5 Gbps. Real-world throughput will be lower due to protocol overhead and host controller performance. They remain backward compatible with USB 2.0 and 1.1 devices, which will run at their native speeds. No higher signalling rate is supported by this cable design.

Check port gender and clearance

Verify the device you want to extend presents a standard USB 3.0 Type-A female socket. The male plug on this cable must mate directly with that socket. Ensure the 1 ft length reaches the intended peripheral without tension. Buyers needing longer runs or a different connector gender should select another product.

Questions about this item

One 1ft cable or the 2-pack — which should I choose?

The listing is a 2-pack containing two 1ft cables, so you receive both at once.

Will the 5Gbps rating actually give me that speed with my external hard drive?

The cable supports SuperSpeed up to 5Gbps, but the real throughput depends on the drive, the host port and the file sizes you transfer.

Is this USB 3.0 Type A cable limited to 5Gbps, or can it run faster on a newer port?

It is built to the USB 3.0 standard, so the electrical ceiling is 5Gbps even when plugged into a USB 3.1 or 3.2 port.
