Compact desktop microphone stand
The Rode DS1 is a low-profile metal stand built for table-top use in radio, broadcast, studio and home recording. Its sturdy base keeps the stand firmly in place while supporting a wide variety of microphones. Height adjusts from 260 mm (10") to 405 mm (16") to suit different seating positions.
Included adapter and cable clips
A 3/8 to 5/8 inch thread adapter is supplied so the stand fits microphones with either mount size. Cable clips are also provided to route the microphone lead neatly along the stand. These accessories remove the need for separate purchases and help keep the desktop tidy during sessions.
Height range and load limits
The stand comfortably handles typical vocal and podcast microphones within the 260 mm to 405 mm adjustment window. It runs out of reach for overhead drum miking or any placement requiring a taller boom. The fixed circular base cannot be clamped to a desk edge, so permanent installations needing a screw-down mount are not supported.

Questions about this item
Does the 3/8 to 5/8-inch adapter included with the stand ever need replacing?
The 3/8 to 5/8-inch adapter is a solid metal thread converter with no moving parts; it only needs replacement if the threads are physically damaged or stripped during a microphone change.
What stops the height adjustment from slipping when the stand is at its maximum 15.74-inch extension?
A friction-locking clutch inside the aluminium shaft clamps the inner tube; it holds the 405 mm maximum height securely unless the clutch knob is loosened by hand.
Does the metal base transmit keyboard vibrations to the microphone during all-day sessions?
The weighted steel base dampens low-frequency desk vibration, and the included cable clips keep the mic cable from pulling on the stand, minimising mechanically transmitted noise.
