PodMic Dynamic Podcasting Microphone
The Rode PodMic is a dynamic end-address XLR microphone built for speech applications such as podcasting and broadcasting. Its cardioid capsule focuses on the speaker while rejecting off-axis room noise. An integrated pop filter and internal shockmount reduce plosives and vibration without extra accessories.
Thermals noise and power draw
As a passive dynamic microphone the PodMic generates no heat and draws no power from the interface. It adds no fan noise or electrical hum to the signal chain. The only audible self-noise comes from the acoustic environment, which the cardioid pattern helps to minimise.
Behaviour under sustained load
The capsule and internal shockmount maintain consistent output during long recording sessions without thermal drift or mechanical fatigue. The built-in pop filter continues to suppress plosives over extended use. The microphone is optimised for the Rodecaster Pro but performs to the same specification with any professional XLR interface.

Questions about this item
How do I install the PodMic on a boom arm and which thread adapter is needed?
Screw the supplied 3/8" to 5/8" thread adapter into the mic base, then mount the mic onto a standard 5/8" boom arm; the step often missed is tightening the adapter fully before hanging the mic.
What part will need replacement first after extended studio use?
The internal foam windscreen can degrade or tear over time; it is not user-replaceable, so the microphone would require factory service when the foam fails.
What limit appears first during a long recording session in a warm room?
The dynamic capsule and internal shockmount are passive, so no thermal throttle occurs; the practical limit is the preamp gain floor of the connected interface.
