Rule-A-Matic Float Switch

The Rule-A-Matic float switch with integrated fuse holder is designed for marine bilge pump circuits operating at 12, 24 or 36 volts. It supports pumps drawing up to 14 amps and uses a mercury-free snap switch tested to over one million cycles.

Removable base and blocked wire

The latest design adds a removable base that allows easy cleaning and servicing without rewiring. Marine grade blocked wire resists corrosion in wet environments and the fuse holder provides inline overcurrent protection for the pump circuit.

Simple two-wire installation

Mount the switch in the bilge, connect the two leads to the pump and power source, and secure the fuse holder inline. The removable base eases future maintenance. Buyers who need automatic activation at multiple water levels or a fully sealed solid-state sensor should consider other designs.

Questions about this item

How often does the mercury-free snap switch need cleaning or replacement?

The switch is tested to over one million cycles and the removable base allows easy cleaning, extending service life before any replacement is needed.

At what current does the 14 A rating become the limiting factor during continuous operation?

The switch is designed for pumps drawing up to 14 Amps; sustained loads at or above that level will reach the rated limit first.

Does the marine-grade blocked wire run hot when the switch powers a 14 A pump all day?

Marine-grade blocked wire is sized for the 14 A maximum, so heat rise stays within design limits during continuous use.
