Lenovo ThinkPad X280 CPU Cooling Fan Heatsink

This new heatsink and fan assembly is built for the Lenovo ThinkPad X280 laptop. It replaces FRU part numbers 01LX665 and 01LX666 to restore factory cooling performance. The unit is designed for owners servicing their own X280 chassis.

Direct replacement for FRU 01LX665 and 01LX666

Installation requires disassembly of the X280 to access the CPU thermal module. The part fits the existing mounting points and connector without modification. It frees the system from overheating throttling caused by a worn or failed original cooler. Buyers needing a cooler for a different ThinkPad model cannot use this unit.

Questions about this item

Will the FRU 01LX665 heatsink handle sustained loads on the X280 without thermal throttling?

The heatsink and fan assembly is the exact cooling module designed for the Lenovo ThinkPad X280, so it dissipates the CPU heat the chassis was engineered for.

How loud is the fan when the X280 runs flat-out all day?

The unit uses the original FRU 01LX666 fan specification, which matches the acoustic profile Lenovo validated for continuous operation in the X280.
