  • Shorter fur stays discreet on camera while remaining effective
  • Re-engineered low-profile design shields against wind, dust and moisture

Low-Profile Lavalier Windjammer

The Rycote Ristretto is a low-profile windjammer designed for lavalier microphone foams. It targets broadcast professionals, field recordists and on-camera talent who need effective wind protection without a bulky profile. The white finish suits visible on-camera use where discretion matters. It is not for users needing full-size windshields for shotgun or handheld microphones.

Wind Noise Reduction and Compatibility

The windjammer minimizes wind noise and plosives while preserving the natural sound of the lavalier capsule. It fits a wide range of lavalier models from brands including Audio-Technica, Sennheiser, Shure, Sony and DPA. The shorter fur reduces visual bulk compared to standard windjammers yet maintains protective performance. It does not replace a full basket windshield for high-wind boom operation.

Upgrade From Standard Foam Covers

This windjammer replaces basic foam windscreens when recording outdoors or in drafty interiors where foam alone lets wind rumble through. The jump is worthwhile whenever a lavalier must stay hidden on camera but still face moving air. It is not a substitute for a dedicated blimp system when maximum isolation is required.

Questions about this item

Will the Rycote Ristretto fit the foam windscreen on my existing Sennheiser ME 2 lavalier?

The Ristretto is designed to fit a wide range of lavalier microphones including Sennheiser models, slipping over the existing foam windscreen for a secure fit.

How can I verify the Ristretto is reducing wind noise effectively during an outdoor shoot?

Monitor your audio levels while recording; the shorter fur design should suppress wind rumble and plosives without muffling the natural voice frequencies.

Does the package include a lavalier microphone or foam windscreen, or only the white fur cover?

The box contains only the Ristretto Low-Profile Windjammer cover; the lavalier microphone and its foam windscreen must be purchased separately.
