An aluminium enclosure that turns an M.2 NVMe SSD into a portable USB 3.1 Gen2 drive with up to 10 Gbps transfer speed
The Sabrent USB 3.1 Gen2 enclosure turns an M.2 NVMe SSD into an external drive with a USB Type-C connection. It is aimed at users who want fast, driver-free access to NVMe storage on a PC, Mac or NAS. The pink aluminum shell makes it easy to spot in a bag.
The 9 mm sandblasted aluminum body acts as a heatsink and includes vents to move heat away from the drive during sustained transfers. A thermal pad contacts the SSD to spread warmth across the case. The USB Type-C port supports hot-swap insertion so the enclosure can be moved between systems without rebooting.
Moving from a USB 3.0 or SATA-based enclosure raises the interface ceiling to 10 Gbps, letting the NVMe SSD reach 850–1020 MB/s in real-world use. The upgrade is worth it when you regularly shift large video, image or dataset files and need the lower latency of a direct PCIe link. It does not support M.2 SATA drives.

The USB 3.1 Gen2 port is rated for up to 10 Gbps and typically achieves 850–1020 MB/s read/write with most NVMe SSDs, falling back to USB 3.1 Gen1 or USB 3.0 speeds when connected to older ports.
The enclosure fits M-key NVMe drives in 2230, 2242, 2260 and 2280 lengths; it does not support B-key or B+M-key SATA-based M.2 modules.
Slide the NVMe SSD into the M-key slot at an angle, press it flat, and fasten the supplied screw into the matching standoff for the drive length; skipping the screw lets the drive overheat and disconnect.
