Fully unlocked prepaid phone

The Samsung Galaxy S23 Plus 5G S916U is a new, contract-free handset with 256 GB of internal storage and 8 GB of RAM. It ships fully unlocked so it works with any compatible carrier, making it suitable for buyers who want a flagship Android device without a long-term agreement. The handset runs Android 13 with Samsung One UI out of the box.

Build integration and expandability

The bar-style chassis fits a single nano SIM slot and has no micro-SD tray, so storage cannot be expanded after purchase. USB-C handles charging, data transfer and wired accessories, while Bluetooth and Wi-Fi cover wireless peripherals. The 6.6-inch Dynamic AMOLED panel leaves the front surface free of a physical home button, maximising usable screen area for apps and media.

Capacity limits and headroom

On-board 256 GB storage holds a large photo library, offline maps and several heavy games before space becomes tight; cloud backup or regular offloading is the only way to add room. Eight gigabytes of RAM keeps recent apps resident for fast switching, though extreme multitasking with desktop-class workloads will eventually trigger memory compression. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset delivers headroom for current titles and OS updates, but the fixed battery and sealed construction mean runtime cannot be extended with a spare cell.

Questions about this item

Does the 8 GB RAM limit how many heavy apps stay open during a full day?

The 8 GB RAM keeps multiple apps resident, but sustained multitasking with very large titles will eventually force older tasks to reload.

How loud or hot does the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 get after hours of gaming?

The chip runs warm under continuous load; the vapour-chamber cooling keeps surface temperatures comfortable and fan noise is absent because the phone uses passive cooling only.

Which SIM size and network bands must my carrier support for this S916U to connect?

The S916U uses a nano-SIM and supports the major 5G and LTE bands used by US carriers; check that your plan is provisioned for those frequencies.
