16 GB DDR4-3200 low-profile ECC registered DIMM for server memory upgrades
This Samsung module provides 16 GB of DDR4-3200 capacity with ECC error correction and registered buffering. The low-profile height fits dense server chassis where vertical clearance is limited. It is built for systems that require registered DIMMs and will not work in desktop boards that accept only unbuffered memory.
The DDR4-3200 standard delivers 3200 MT/s throughput, but the registered design adds one clock cycle of latency compared with unbuffered modules. ECC functionality requires a chipset and CPU that both support error-correcting code; consumer platforms typically disable it. Mixing registered and unbuffered DIMMs on the same channel is not supported by the memory controller.
The single specification that decides fit is the registered ECC RDIMM form factor. Only motherboards with server-class chipsets and CPUs that explicitly list RDIMM support can use this module. Buyers who need standard unbuffered DIMMs for a desktop or workstation should select a different memory type.

This module provides 16GB of DDR4-3200 ECC registered memory in a low-profile form factor, suitable for servers and workstations that require error correction and registered signal integrity.
DDR4-3200 indicates a data rate of 3200 MT/s; the module will run at this speed when the platform supports it, otherwise it downclocks to the highest supported JEDEC speed.
No, this is an ECC registered DIMM designed for server and workstation chipsets; consumer desktop platforms typically do not support registered or ECC memory.
