Compact Chromebook for light tasks

The Samsung XE303C12-A01US-B is an 11.6" Chromebook built around a Samsung Exynos 5 processor running at 1.70GHz. It ships with Chrome OS and includes a non-touch display, integrated webcam, WLAN and Bluetooth. This Grade A refurbished unit suits students or casual users who need a simple, portable device for browsing and cloud-based work.

Sustained load behaviour

With 2GB of memory and 16 GB eMMC storage, the system handles single browser tabs and lightweight web apps without difficulty. Heavier multitasking or media-heavy pages will cause noticeable slowdown because the memory cannot be expanded and the eMMC throughput is modest. The 2-cell lithium-ion battery provides limited runtime under continuous use.

Deciding specification

The 2GB memory capacity is the single figure that determines whether this Chromebook fits the buyer's workflow. It restricts the device to one or two light tasks at a time and prevents installation of Linux containers or Android apps that require more RAM. Buyers who need more memory for concurrent tabs, offline documents or development environments should look elsewhere.

How warm or loud does the Exynos 5 at 1.70GHz get during all-day use?

The fanless Exynos 5 runs silently and stays cool to the touch even after hours of browsing or streaming on Chrome OS.

What do I already need to start using this Chromebook?

A Google account and a Wi-Fi network are the only requirements; Chrome OS handles setup automatically.

Can I still reach my older USB flash drives and external monitor from this unit?
