Dual USB 3.2 Gen 2 drive for creatives

The SanDisk Extreme PRO Dual Drive combines a USB Type-A and a USB Type-C connector on a single metal body. It gives photographers, videographers and mobile professionals a single stick that plugs into modern laptops, tablets and phones without an adapter. The 512GB capacity holds large RAW photo libraries and 4K video clips while leaving room for project files. Buyers who need more than 512GB of portable space will find the capacity limiting.

512GB capacity with 1,000MB/s read and 900MB/s write

Sequential reads reach up to 1,000MB/s and writes up to 900MB/s over USB 3.2 Gen 2, so multi-gigabyte transfers finish in seconds rather than minutes. The 512GB volume comfortably stores a day’s shoot of high-resolution images or several hours of 4K footage. Very large media archives or full system backups will exceed the available space and require a higher-capacity drive.

Metal casing runs cool

The all-metal enclosure acts as a passive heatsink, keeping the drive cool during sustained transfers without any fan noise. Power is drawn entirely from the host USB port, so there is no separate adapter to carry. Under heavy write workloads the casing becomes warm to the touch but stays within normal operating limits. Users who need active cooling or ruggedised water resistance will need a different form factor.

Questions about this item

Will the 1,000MB/s read speed still be reached when I plug the Type-A connector into my older USB 3.0 port?

The drive is rated for up to 1,000MB/s read on USB 3.2 Gen 2; connecting to a USB 3.0 port will limit throughput to that port's lower specification.

How can I verify the drive is delivering the advertised 900MB/s write performance after I set it up?

Run a standard benchmark tool such as CrystalDiskMark or AS SSD and compare the sequential write result with the rated 900MB/s figure.

Does the package include the OEM USB lanyard mentioned in the title, or do I need to buy one separately?

The OEM USB lanyard is included in the box; no separate purchase is required for the lanyard.
