High-capacity USB-A flash storage

The SanDisk Extreme PRO SDCZ820 provides 512GB of portable storage with a standard USB-A connector. It is built for professionals who move large media files between desktops, laptops and compatible devices without needing a separate cable or adapter.

Thermal behaviour and power draw

The metal casing acts as a heat sink to help sustain high transfer rates during extended use. Power is drawn entirely from the host USB port with no external supply required, keeping the setup simple and silent.

Build integration and portability

The compact stick plugs directly into any USB-A port and adds negligible bulk to a workstation or bag. A built-in keyring hole lets you clip the drive to a bag or briefcase so it stays accessible without occupying a drive bay or cable.

Questions about this item

How do I plug in the SDCZ820 and which port speed do I need for the 1000MB/s read claim?

Insert the USB-A connector directly into a USB 3.2 Gen 2 port; USB 2.0 ports will limit speed to far below the advertised 1000MB/s read and 900MB/s write.

Will the metal casing or the flash memory wear out first, and is there a user-replaceable part?

The sealed metal body has no user-serviceable parts; NAND endurance determines lifespan and the drive is replaced as a whole unit when write cycles are exhausted.

At what point does thermal throttling cut the 900MB/s write speed during a large sustained transfer?

The controller reduces write throughput once internal temperature reaches its safety limit; sustained 900MB/s cannot be maintained indefinitely without active cooling.
