  • Write speeds up to 900MB/s cut backup times for 4K video projects

  • 1TB capacity stores extensive media libraries and project archives
  • Up to 200x faster than USB 2.0 drives reduces wait time on every transfer

High-speed portable storage

The SanDisk Extreme PRO USB-C flash drive delivers 1 TB of capacity with read speeds up to 1000 MB/s and write speeds up to 900 MB/s. It suits professionals and enthusiasts who move large media files or project archives between devices. A metal casing and integrated keyring hole support daily transport.

USB 3.2 Gen 2 interface limits

The drive uses a USB 3.2 Gen 2 connection rated for 10 Gb/s signalling. Actual throughput depends on the host controller, cable quality and file types, so sustained rates may fall below the peak 1000 MB/s read and 900 MB/s write figures. Performance on USB 2.0 ports is limited to that standard's 2.0 ceiling.

Host port and cable check

Verify your device provides a USB-C port that supports USB 3.2 Gen 2 or USB 3.1 Gen 2 signalling. A USB 2.0-only port will restrict transfer speeds dramatically. Use the supplied cable or another certified for 10 Gb/s operation to achieve the advertised rates.

Questions about this item

Should I choose the 1TB or 2TB version of the SDCZ890 Extreme PRO?

The 1TB model provides ample space for large media libraries and project files, while the 2TB option doubles that capacity for professionals handling massive datasets or multiple 4K video archives.

What do the 1000MB/s read and 900MB/s write speeds mean for everyday transfers?

These SSD-like speeds let you move multi-gigabyte 4K videos or complex project folders in seconds rather than minutes, keeping pace with demanding creative workflows.

The drive uses USB 3.2 Gen 2 with a USB-C connector — what does that cap in practice?

The USB 3.2 Gen 2 interface enables the advertised 1000MB/s read and 900MB/s write ceiling, and the USB-C plug works directly with modern laptops, tablets and phones without adapters.
