512 GB USB 3.2 Gen 2 flash drive

This SanDisk Extreme PRO drive delivers up to 1000 MB/s read and 900 MB/s write speeds over a USB Type-A connector. The 512 GB capacity suits users who move large media libraries or project folders between laptops and desktops. A metal casing and keyring hole keep the drive light at 0.06 pounds.

Suits creators and professionals needing fast

Buyers who require hardware encryption beyond the included 128-bit AES or 256 kb Blowfish-level protection should look elsewhere. The drive also lacks a USB-C connector, so systems with only Type-C ports will need an adapter. RescuePRO Deluxe software helps recover accidentally deleted files.

Check your host port and encryption needs

Verify the computer offers a USB 3.2 Gen 2 or USB 3.2 Gen 1 port to approach the quoted speeds; USB 2.0 will be far slower. Ensure the operating system supports the drive's password protection and included encryption features. No driver installation is required for standard mass-storage operation.

Questions about this item

What USB port does my computer need to get the 1000MB/s read speed from this SDCZ820-512G-G46?

The drive uses USB 3.2 Gen 2 with a Type A connector; your host must provide a USB 3.2 Gen 2 or USB 3.1 Gen 2 Type A port to reach the rated 1000MB/s read and 900MB/s write speeds.

Will this Extreme PRO drive slow down if I also have a USB 2.0 device plugged into the same hub?

The drive negotiates USB 3.2 Gen 2 on its own connection, so a neighbouring USB 2.0 device does not reduce its 1000MB/s read or 900MB/s write capability.

How can I confirm the 256kb Blowfish-level encryption is active after I set a password?

After enabling password protection in the included RescuePRO Deluxe software, the drive will prompt for the password on every insertion and the status indicator in the utility shows encryption active.
