Dual-connector drive for iPhone and USB-C

The SanDisk iXpand Luxe provides 64GB of storage in a metal casing that carries both a Lightning plug and a USB-C plug. It is built for iPhone, iPad Pro, Mac and Android users who want to move files without relying on cloud services or cables. The swivel design covers each connector when not in use and includes a keyring hole for portability.

All-metal build with swivel protection

The aluminium shell resists everyday wear while the rotating mechanism shields both connectors from damage in a bag or pocket. Plug the Lightning end into an iPhone or iPad Pro to offload photos instantly, then flip the drive and insert the USB-C end into a laptop or Android phone for rapid USB 3.1 transfers. No internet connection is required for any file operation.

Upgrade from single-connector

Users limited to Lightning-only drives or wireless backups gain direct, high-speed access to USB-C computers and Android devices in one step. The jump is worthwhile when you regularly shift large photo libraries or video projects between iOS and USB-C platforms and want automatic backup plus password protection without a subscription.

Questions about this item

What real-world transfer speed does the USB 3.1 interface cap at on this drive?

The drive uses a high-speed USB 3.0 connector for computer transfers, so speeds are limited to the USB 3.0 specification in practice.

What physical clearance does the 0.34" x 0.61" x 1.97" metal casing need to fit beside a phone in a case?

The slim 0.34-inch thickness and swivel design allow it to sit flush against most iPhone cases without blocking the port or adjacent buttons.

How do you set up automatic photo backup on iPhone, and what step do users often miss?

Plug in the drive, allow access in the iXpand Drive app, then enable auto-backup in settings; users often forget to grant the app permission to access Photos.
