Ideal for Wall-Mounted TV Installations

The Sanus SA-IWB9-W1 is a 9-inch in-wall media box designed to sit directly behind a wall-mounted television. It stores streaming devices, network switches and similar components while keeping power and low-voltage cables concealed. White Wi-Fi transparent construction allows wireless signals to pass through the enclosure.

Installation Requirements and Cable Management

The unit measures 15.87 inches wide, 3.97 inches deep and 10.8 inches high and weighs 3 units. Cable and power knockouts organise wiring routes, and a supplied cutting template guides the drywall cut-out. Installation calls for a drywall saw, stud finder, level, tape measure, pencil and Phillips screwdriver.

Elevated Mounting Plate Adds a Second Storage Layer

An included mounting plate provides 1.5 inches of elevation, creating an upper tier for larger devices and effectively doubling the usable volume. Builders who need more internal depth than the fixed 3.97 inches allow, or who must house equipment taller than the cavity height, will find this box unsuitable.

Questions about this item

How do I decide between the single-layer and the elevated mounting plate for my devices?

The box includes both a standard plate and an extra plate with 1.5" of elevation; use the raised plate when you need a second storage layer or have taller streaming devices, and the flat plate for slimmer gear.

What does the 9-inch size mean for the space behind my mounted TV?

The 9-inch box measures 15.87"W x 3.97"D x 10.8"H, giving enough depth for most streaming sticks, small network switches and power adapters while sitting flush between standard studs.

Which cable and power knockouts does this box provide and what do they limit?

Built-in cable knockouts let you route low-voltage HDMI, Ethernet and USB cords neatly, while separate power knockouts accept standard electrical boxes so you can add an outlet for the TV and devices.
