Protects motors by disconnecting power when current exceeds the 4-6A adjustable range, calibrated to Class 10A
The Schneider Electric LRD10 is a differential thermal overload relay built for industrial motor protection. It pairs with TeSys D contactors rated from 9 to 38 amperes to form a complete motor starter. The unit suits maintenance engineers and panel builders who need reliable overcurrent detection for three-phase motors.
Under continuous load the relay monitors line current and trips when the adjustable setting between 4 and 6 amperes is exceeded. Calibration follows Class 10A timing, so the device reacts to prolonged overloads rather than brief inrush currents. This behaviour helps prevent winding damage during extended fault conditions.
The transparent cover allows visual inspection of the trip mechanism and contact status without removing the relay. Multi-standard certification covers IEC, UL, CSA, CCC, EAC, ATEX and Marine approvals, simplifying compliance for panels shipped to multiple jurisdictions. The 1NC/1NO auxiliary contacts integrate directly into control circuits for status signalling.

The relay uses a differential thermal element that only trips on sustained overcurrent; normal operation adds negligible heat and no measurable power draw beyond the contactor coil.
It is built for TeSys D contactors rated from 9 A through 38 A, so you need one of those contactors before the LRD10 will function.
Yes, the LRD10 mounts directly on any TeSys D contactor in the 9 A to 38 A range, regardless of its age, as long as the contactor frame matches.
