A thermal overload relay with 1NO/1NC auxiliary contacts, adjustable 30-38 A range, trip class 10A, 690 V AC rating, and direct contactor mounting via screw clamp terminals
The Schneider Electric LRD35 is a thermal overload relay designed to protect three-phase motors in industrial control panels. It mounts directly onto a compatible TeSys Deca contactor, simplifying installation for panel builders and maintenance engineers. The device suits applications where reliable overload detection is required without complex electronic configuration.
The relay operates on a Trip Class 10A thermal curve, opening the auxiliary contacts when sustained overcurrent heats the bimetallic elements. It carries a maximum voltage rating of 690 V AC and a setting range from 30 A to 38 A, allowing precise calibration to the motor full-load current. Screw clamp terminals accept standard control wiring for secure connections.
Under continuous overload the thermal mechanism trips within the defined class time, preventing motor winding damage during prolonged fault conditions. The 1NO/1NC auxiliary contact set provides both alarm signalling and contactor drop-out in a single unit. After a trip event the reset button must be pressed manually, ensuring the fault is investigated before the motor restarts.

Mount the relay directly onto a compatible TeSys Deca contactor, then tighten the screw clamp terminals on all three poles; the step often missed is securing each terminal screw to the specified torque so the thermal trip operates at the correct 30-38 A range.
The thermal overload element inside the relay fatigues after repeated trips at the 30-38 A setting and the whole unit must be replaced; the 1NO/1NC auxiliary contacts are rated for the same service life and are not separately replaceable.
The relay trips when current exceeds the 38 A maximum setting; Trip Class 10A means the trip occurs within roughly 10 seconds at 6 times the setting, so sustained currents above 38 A trigger the thermal element first.
