Enclosed Power Relay for Industrial Control

The Schneider Electric RPF2BB7 is a sealed, square-base relay designed for DIN rail and top-flange mounting in industrial automation panels. It switches loads with a 24V AC coil and provides DPDT contact action for controlling motors, heaters or lighting circuits.

Coil Voltage and Contact Ratings Define Limits

The 24V AC coil requires a compatible control supply, while the contacts are rated for 30 A at 250/277V AC on the normally-open side and 3 A on the normally-closed side. DC switching is limited to 20 A or 25 A at 28V depending on the contact, so the relay cannot handle high-voltage DC loads.

Replaces Open-Frame or Lower-Current Relays

This unit upgrades installations that previously used unsealed relays or devices rated below 30 A, adding environmental protection and higher switching capacity. The jump is worth it when a sealed enclosure, DIN rail convenience and 1 hp at 120V AC or 3 hp at 240V AC motor ratings are required.

Questions about this item

Should I choose the 30 A NO or the 3 A NC contact rating for my load?

Use the 30 A normally-open rating at 250/277 V AC for high-power switching; the normally-closed path only handles 3 A at the same voltage.

What does the 30 A rating mean when the relay is installed in a panel?

It means the normally-open contacts can switch up to 30 A at 250/277 V AC or 25 A at 28 V DC, and the coil draws 24 V AC to energise.

How do the 1/4 in tab terminals limit the wire size I can use?

The 0.25 in flat-pin tabs accept standard quick-connect crimp terminals; choose lugs rated for at least 30 A to match the contact rating.
