Seagate

Seagate Cheetah 3.5" 450GB 15K 16MB 6Gbps SAS internal hard drive

SKU CH-ZGJE-7ZQYX

A 3.5-inch 450 GB SAS hard drive spinning at 15K RPM with a 16 MB buffer

  • 15K RPM spindle speed accelerates data access
  • 6Gbps SAS interface supports high-throughput server workloads
  • 450GB capacity stores critical enterprise datasets
  • 16MB cache buffers bursts for consistent performance
  • 5-inch form factor fits standard drive bays

450 GB 15K SAS Hard Drive

This 3.5 inch enterprise hard drive delivers 450 GB of storage on a 6 Gbps SAS interface with a 15K spindle speed and 16 MB cache. It is built for servers and storage arrays that demand fast sequential throughput and low latency. The drive arrives new in retail or OEM packaging.

Suited For High-IOPS Workloads

Database servers, transaction logs and tier-zero storage tiers benefit from the 15K rotational speed and SAS connectivity. Buyers who need larger capacities, lower noise levels, or a different interface should consider other options. The 90-day warranty covers basic functional defects.

15K RPM Spindle Speed

The 15K RPM rotation is the primary factor that determines random-access performance and sustained transfer rates for this drive. Verify that your backplane or controller supports 6 Gbps SAS and 3.5 inch form factor before purchase.

Questions about this item

Does my system need a SAS controller or backplane to use this 6 Gbps SAS drive?

Yes, the drive uses a SAS interface, so it requires a compatible SAS host bus adapter, RAID controller, or server backplane that supports 6 Gbps SAS signalling.

Can I run this 15K RPM SAS drive in an older enclosure that only supports 3 Gbps SAS?

The drive will negotiate down to 3 Gbps SAS automatically, so it works in legacy enclosures, though sustained throughput will be limited to the slower link speed.

How can I verify the 15K RPM spindle speed and 16 MB cache are recognised after installation?

Check the drive’s reported RPM and cache size in the RAID controller BIOS, operating system device manager, or a tool such as smartctl that reads the drive’s identity pages.
