Server and storage array builders

This drive suits administrators who need a 2.5-inch form factor for dense server chassis or external storage arrays. Buyers looking for a desktop consumer drive or a laptop upgrade should consider other models because this unit is specified for server environments only.

7200 RPM spindle speed

The 7200 RPM rotational speed determines the sustained throughput and access latency you can expect from the drive. Verify that your server backplane or controller supports 2.5-inch SATA 6 Gb/s devices before purchasing.

Questions about this item

Will the 2.5 inch form factor fit my server drive bay?

The drive measures 2.5 inches wide and is built for server bays that accept 2.5 inch SATA drives; verify your bay height before ordering.

Which way does the SATA connector face when I slide the ST9500620NS into the caddy?

Align the SATA data and power connectors toward the backplane, then press firmly until the latch clicks — the most common error is stopping before the latch engages.

How often should I check the 64 MB cache health on this 7200 RPM drive?

Run SMART diagnostics monthly; the 64 MB cache itself needs no service, but the mechanical parts benefit from regular health scans and timely replacement if reallocated sectors appear.
