Enterprise bulk storage

The Seagate Exos 7E8 ST8000NM000A is an 8TB enterprise hard drive built for 24×7 data centre workloads. It spins at 7200 RPM with a 256MB cache and connects via SATA 6.0Gb/s. The drive is rated for 550 TB per year and a 2 million hour MTBF.

Check your system

Verify that your chassis accepts a 3.5 inch drive measuring 147.00mm long, 101.85mm wide and 26.10mm high. Confirm the motherboard or controller provides a free SATA 6.0Gb/s port and that the power supply has a spare SATA power connector. Ensure the operating environment supports continuous enterprise duty cycles.

Suited for RAID arrays, not portable use

This drive suits IT professionals building replicated or RAID storage pools that demand sustained throughput and vibration tolerance. Buyers needing a silent desktop drive, a laptop upgrade or external backup media should look at something else.
