SKU CH-D35C-G9Y15

Two enterprise-class 3.5" SATA hard drives deliver 16TB each at 7200 RPM with 256MB cache for high-capacity storage

  • Enterprise helium design cuts power and weight for data-centre efficiency
  • PowerBalance technology maximises IOPS per watt for lower operating cost
  • 5 million-hour MTBF rating backs proven enterprise-class reliability
  • 256 MB cache and 7200 RPM speed accelerate sustained workloads
  • 512e/4Kn SATA 6 Gb/s interface fits existing 3.5-inch bays

Seagate Exos X16 16TB dual-drive pack

This pack contains two 3.5-inch enterprise hard drives, each offering 16TB of capacity. The drives spin at 7200 RPM and include a 256MB cache. They use a SATA 6Gb/s interface with 512e/4Kn sector formatting. Helium sealing and a 2.5M-hour MTBF rating support continuous operation in storage arrays.

Suited for bulk storage arrays

These drives fit servers and NAS units that need high sequential throughput and large raw capacity. The helium design reduces power draw per terabyte. Buyers who need faster random access or lower latency for transactional databases should consider other drive classes. The 3.5-inch form factor requires a compatible drive bay and SATA power and data connections.

16TB per drive via SATA 6Gb/s

Each unit delivers 16000 gigabytes over the SATA interface, making total capacity the primary selection factor. The 512e/4Kn format ensures compatibility with modern operating systems and legacy controllers alike. Verify that your host bus adapter or motherboard supports drives of this size before purchase.

Questions about this item

What sustained throughput limit appears first when the Exos X16 16TB drives run at 7200 RPM all day?

The SATA 6Gb/s interface caps sustained transfer rates, so the drives cannot exceed the bus bandwidth even though the 256MB cache and helium design help maintain consistent performance.

How do the helium-sealed design and PowerBalance feature affect heat and power draw during continuous operation?

Helium reduces internal friction and the PowerBalance feature optimises IOPS per watt, so the drives run cooler and draw less power than conventional air-filled enterprise drives under the same workload.

What host interface must the system provide for these 3.5-inch SATA drives to work?

A SATA 6Gb/s port on the motherboard or controller is required; the drives use the standard 512e/4Kn sector format and need both data and power cables from the host.
