SKU CH-0BAW-KHADK

1 TB 7200 RPM desktop hard drive with 128 MB cache and 6 Gb/s SATA interface for enterprise workloads

  • 1 TB capacity stores large data sets
  • 7200 RPM spindle speed accelerates data access
  • 128 MB cache buffers bursts for smoother throughput
  • SATA 6 Gb/s interface connects directly to desktop motherboards
  • Constellation ES.3 design includes background media scan and perpendicular recording for data integrity

1TB 7200RPM SAS Enterprise Drive

The Seagate Constellation ES.3 ST1000NM0023 is a 3.5-inch internal hard drive built for enterprise storage arrays and servers. It delivers 1TB capacity at 7200RPM with a 128MB cache and a SAS 6Gb/s interface. The bare drive is designed for continuous operation in RAID and NAS environments.

Suited for RAID and archival workloads

This drive fits administrators who need high-capacity bulk storage with dual-port SAS reliability for failover configurations. It is not for builders who require SATA-only connectivity, quieter acoustics for desktop use, or solid-state speeds for boot and application drives.

SAS 6Gb/s dual-port interface decides fit

The SAS interface provides dual-port redundancy and multipath I/O that SATA drives lack. Controllers and backplanes must support SAS 6Gb/s to use this drive. SATA-only host adapters cannot communicate with it.

Questions about this item

Does the 7200RPM spindle speed create a thermal limit during continuous operation?

The 7200RPM mechanism and 2.0 pound mass indicate typical enterprise heat output; ensure your chassis provides adequate airflow for 3.5" drives.

What is the typical acoustic and power profile when the drive runs all day?

The 6Gb/s SATA interface and 128MB cache support efficient sustained transfers; the bare drive has no integrated fan, so system cooling determines noise.

Which host interface must the system provide for this drive to function?

A 3.5" SATA 6Gb/s port is required; the drive uses a standard SATA data and power connector.
