The Shelly Blu Motion is a Bluetooth motion sensor with an integrated lux sensor designed for home security and automation. Behaviour under continuous monitoring

The sensor provides real-time motion detection with a quick response time and maintains operation through its long-lasting battery during extended use. It covers a 120-degree detection angle and identifies movement up to 30 feet, allowing it to monitor large rooms or hallways without gaps. Customisable alarm zones let users focus on critical areas while ignoring routine activity.

Limits of the Bluetooth interface

Communication relies on Bluetooth, so the sensor must remain within range of a supported gateway to relay events to the cloud or app. The 30-foot detection range applies to motion sensing, not to the wireless link, which can be affected by walls and interference. Users needing coverage beyond a single gateway’s reach must add additional gateways or use compatible Shelly Plus devices as repeaters.
