A compact rackmount chassis holds six hot-swappable 3.5 or 2.5 inch SATA drives, fits a Mini-ITX board and a Flex PSU, and includes two 8025 fans
This 195 mm tall rackmount chassis fits a Mini-ITX motherboard and a Flex power supply, creating a space-efficient platform for home storage or a private cloud server. Six hot-swappable 3.5-inch drive bays accept 2.5-inch drives as well, all driven by a single 6 Gbps SATA backplane. Two 8025 fan mounts provide active cooling for the dense drive array.
Moving from a desktop tower or external USB enclosures to this rackmount unit centralises up to six drives in one managed chassis with hot-swap capability and front status LEDs. The jump is worthwhile when you need simultaneous access to multiple drives, simplified drive replacement without tools, and a standard 19-inch rack footprint for organised cabling.
All six bays share one 6 Gbps SATA backplane, so aggregate throughput is capped at the speed of that single link and the connected host controller. The chassis provides only one full-height PCIe expansion slot, restricting add-in controller options to a single card. Builds that require multiple independent storage controllers or higher total bandwidth will exceed what this backplane and slot layout can deliver.

The chassis is 260 mm deep and 250 mm wide, so it fits a standard 19-inch rack shelf or cabinet with at least that clearance.
Mount the Mini-ITX board on the provided standoffs, connect the backplane SATA data and power cables to the board, then secure the 8025 fans; the step often missed is plugging the front-panel Power LED, HDD LED, Power SW and Reset headers onto the motherboard.
The two 8025 fans are the only moving parts and will need replacement before the steel chassis or the fixed SATA backplane.
