What the Anycast M2 Plus is and who it serves

The Anycast M2 Plus is a wireless HDMI dongle that mirrors phones, tablets or computers onto a TV or projector. It accepts iOS, Android, Mac and Windows sources and streams video, audio, photos, documents or online services such as Youku, Sohu and Tencent at up to 1080p resolution through a single HDMI male plug powered by a micro-USB port.

Behaviour under continuous streaming

The AM8251 processor running Linux 3.0 maintains a stable Miracast, Airplay, DLNA or EZcast session at 720p or 1080p without dropping frames during extended presentations or movie playback. Wireless reach stays reliable within 10 metres, so the image remains smooth whether the source device rests on a desk or moves around a meeting room.

Practical limits of the wireless HDMI link

Maximum output is capped at 1080p, so 4K sources are downscaled and HDR metadata is not passed through. Only one HDMI sink is supported, preventing multi-display setups, and the micro-USB power input must supply enough current for the AM8251 or the stream will become unstable.

Questions about this item

Does the Anycast M2 Plus run hot or draw much power when streaming 1080p video all day?

The dongle is powered through its Micro USB port at 5 V and uses the AM8251 processor with Linux 3.0; it has no fan and is designed for continuous wireless display use.

What must I already own to make the Anycast M2 Plus work?

You need a display with an HDMI input, a 5 V USB power source for the Micro USB port, and a source device running iOS, Android, Mac or Windows that supports AirPlay, Miracast or DLNA.

Will the Anycast M2 Plus mirror from my older laptop that only has 720p output?

Yes — the dongle supports 720p and 1080p HDMI output and works with Windows, Mac, Android and iOS devices using AirPlay, Miracast or DLNA protocols.
