Steelbook 4K UHD Edition

This Shout Factory release presents Ace Ventura: Pet Detective on 4K UHD Blu-ray with a new transfer from the 35mm original camera negative. The two-disc set includes the feature film on a 4K UHD disc and a companion Blu-ray disc, both sourced from the same high-resolution scan. It is packaged in a collectible steelbook case.

Collectors wanting Dolby Vision HDR

The 4K UHD disc delivers the film in Dolby Vision high dynamic range, which is also HDR-10 compatible, alongside English DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 surround and 2.0 stereo tracks. Viewers who require Dolby Atmos immersive audio or additional supplemental documentaries beyond the director commentary and theatrical trailer should consider other editions.

Consistent playback across both discs

Both the 4K UHD and Blu-ray discs utilise the identical new 4K transfer from the original camera negative, ensuring visual parity when switching formats. An audio commentary with director Tom Shadyac is included on each disc, providing the same supplemental context regardless of which version is played.

Questions about this item

Do I need a 4K UHD Blu-ray player to watch the main disc?

Yes, the first disc is a 4K UHD Blu-ray that requires a compatible player and a 4K display to play the new 4K transfer from the 35mm original camera negative.

Can I still watch this on a standard Blu-ray player?

The second disc is a standard Blu-ray with the same 4K transfer and DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1, so it works on any Blu-ray player without 4K hardware.

How do I confirm the Dolby Vision HDR is active during playback?

Your 4K TV or player will show a Dolby Vision badge or HDR indicator when the UHD disc plays its Dolby Vision (HDR-10 compatible) presentation.
