Vocal Performance Microphone

The Shure PGA58-XLR is a cardioid dynamic microphone built for lead and backup vocal applications. Its tailored cartridge design delivers natural clarity across the frequency range of vocal performance. The discrete on/off switch gives performers direct control during live sets. A stand adapter and zipper pouch are included for mounting and transport.

Cardioid Pickup and 15 ft Cable

The unidirectional pattern captures sound from the source while rejecting unwanted noise from the sides and rear. This model ships with a 15-foot XLR-to-XLR cable for immediate connection to a mixer or interface. Sensitivity is rated at -55 decibels. The corded electric power supply means no batteries or external phantom power are required.

Wired Dynamic Operation

As a corded dynamic microphone it relies on a physical XLR connection, so cable length and mixer preamp gain set the practical limits. The 15-foot cable restricts stage placement unless an extension is added. It is not suited for users who need wireless freedom or a microphone with a different output connector such as a ¼-inch plug.

Questions about this item

Will the PGA58-XLR work with my older mixer that only has ¼-inch inputs?

This specific model includes a 15-foot XLR-to-XLR cable, so you would need a separate XLR-to-¼-inch adapter or a different cable to connect to a ¼-inch input.

How can I confirm the cardioid pattern is rejecting rear noise during a soundcheck?

Speak into the front grille while monitoring the channel; noise from the sides and rear should be noticeably lower than your voice at the same distance.

Does the package include a microphone stand or do I need to buy one separately?

The box contains the microphone, a stand adapter, a zipper pouch and a 15-foot XLR cable; a microphone stand is not included and must be purchased separately.
