Ultra-wide zoom for FX and DX Nikon DSLRs with constant f/4 aperture, SLD and FLD glass, three aspherical elements and Super Multi-Layer coating
This Sigma Art lens covers 12-24mm on FX and DX Nikon DSLRs with a constant f/4 maximum aperture. It is built for photographers who need expansive, rectilinear perspectives without the curvature typical of ultra-wide designs. The Hyper Sonic Motor provides quiet autofocus with full-time manual override.
The aperture stays at f/4 from 12mm to 24mm, stopping down to f/22 for extended depth of field. This consistency helps maintain exposure settings while zooming and supports faster shutter speeds in dim interiors or at dusk. Extreme corners stay sharp, though very close foregrounds at 12mm can challenge depth of field.
One Special Low Dispersion and five F Low Dispersion elements combine with three aspherical elements to suppress chromatic and spherical aberrations. A nine-blade rounded diaphragm produces smooth background rendition. Photographers needing tilt-shift movements or filter threads on the front element will need a different tool.

Yes, the lens uses a built-in Hyper Sonic Motor for autofocus and is fully compatible with Nikon F-mount DSLR cameras, including older bodies that lack an internal focus motor.
Set the camera to aperture-priority mode, select f/4, then zoom from 12 mm to 24 mm while watching the exposure readout; the shutter speed should not change if the aperture remains constant.
The lens ships with a petal-type hood that mounts to the front; protective filters are not included and must be bought separately if desired.
