Compact Wide-Angle Prime for APS-C E-Mount

The Sigma 15mm f/1.4 DC Contemporary lens is built for Sony APS-C mirrorless cameras, offering a 22.5mm full-frame equivalent view in a body just 64.8mm long and weighing 220g. It suits street, travel, vlogging and live-streaming creators who need a fast, wide perspective without the bulk of larger zooms.

Consistent Optical Quality at Wide Apertures

One FLD element, three SLD elements and three double-sided aspherical lenses suppress aberrations across the frame, delivering uncompromising sharpness even at f/1.4. The design is approximately 30% shorter and 50% lighter than the 16mm f/1.4 predecessor, maintaining performance during extended handheld or gimbal sessions.

Passive Thermal Behaviour and Low Power Draw

With no internal motors or electronics that generate significant heat, the lens stays at ambient temperature during continuous video recording. Its all-mechanical focus and aperture rings operate silently, drawing zero power from the camera body beyond the standard mount communication. Photographers needing weather sealing or autofocus motors should consider other options.

Questions about this item

How much heat does the 15mm f/1.4 lens generate during all-day video recording?

The lens has no active cooling, so heat comes only from ambient conditions and the camera body; its compact 64.8mm barrel and 220g weight keep passive thermal load minimal.

What camera mount must I already own to use this Sigma 15mm f/1.4 lens?

You need a Sony E-mount APS-C body; the lens is designed exclusively for that mount and will not fit full-frame E-mount cameras without crop mode.

Will the 58mm filter kit thread onto my older Sigma 16mm f/1.4 DC DN Contemporary lens?

Yes, the predecessor also uses a 58mm filter thread, so the included filter kit fits both lenses directly.
