Versatile APS-C zoom

The Sigma 17-40mm F1.8 DC Art lens covers an ultra-wide zoom range designed for APS-C format DSLR cameras. Its constant f/1.8 aperture delivers consistent low light performance throughout the focal range. This Art series optic targets photographers who need professional image quality in a flexible wide-angle package.

Suited for wide-angle work

The constant aperture and Art designation suit event, interior and astrophotography shooters who require fast, wide coverage on crop-sensor bodies. Photographers using full-frame DSLRs or mirrorless systems should look elsewhere, as this lens is built exclusively for APS-C image circles. Buyers needing telephoto reach or macro capability will not find it here.

Professional Art series build

Membership in the Art line signals Sigma's highest optical and construction standards for demanding creative work. The lens ships in a black finish consistent with the series aesthetic.

Questions about this item

Which APS-C DSLR mount must my camera have for the 17-40mm F1.8 DC Art to attach and communicate?

The lens is built for APS-C DSLR bodies; you need a camera with the matching Sigma mount such as SA, Canon EF, Nikon F or Sony A mount.

Will the constant f/1.8 aperture stay bright when I zoom from 17mm to 40mm on my older APS-C DSLR?

Yes, the aperture remains fixed at f/1.8 throughout the entire zoom range on any compatible APS-C DSLR.

How can I confirm the lens is delivering the Art-line sharpness after mounting it?

Shoot a flat, well-lit target at 17mm and 40mm wide open; the centre and edges should resolve fine detail with minimal chromatic aberration.
