Standard zoom for APS-C DSLRs with constant f/2.8 aperture, optical stabilisation and FLD glass for sharp, contrast-rich images
The Sigma 17-50mm f/2.8 EX DC OS HSM FLD covers a 17-50mm focal range on Canon APS-C DSLR bodies. It maintains a constant f/2.8 maximum aperture across the zoom range and stops down to f/22. The optical design uses 17 elements in 13 groups including FLD glass and aspherical elements. A Hyper Sonic Motor drives autofocus while an Optical Stabilizer assists handheld shooting.
The constant f/2.8 aperture provides consistent exposure throughout the zoom range but the minimum aperture is limited to f/22. Optical Stabiliser effectiveness varies with focal length and shooting technique; it does not eliminate all camera shake. The 77mm filter thread accepts standard accessories but adds diameter to the front of the lens. Minimum focusing distance is 11 inches with a maximum magnification of 1:5.
Confirm the camera uses a Canon EF or EF-S mount before ordering; the lens is designed for APS-C sensors only. Full-frame bodies will vignette or require crop mode. Ensure the body can supply power for HSM autofocus and OS operation. The package includes a lens hood and front and rear caps.

The 17-50 mm zoom covers a 72.4° to 27.9° angle of view on APS-C, giving wide-angle through short-tele framing in one lens.
The f/2.8 maximum stays fixed from 17 mm to 50 mm, enabling consistent low-light exposure and shallow depth of field across the entire zoom range.
A 77 mm thread accepts common circular polarisers, ND filters and protective glass without vignetting at the wide end.
