Wide-Angle Prime for Sony E-Mount

The Sigma 20mm f/1.4 DG DN Art lens is built for Sony E-mount mirrorless cameras. Its ultra-wide 20mm focal length suits landscape, architectural and astrophotography work. The fast f/1.4 aperture supports low-light shooting and shallow depth of field. A stepping motor provides quiet autofocus for both stills and video.

Filter Thread and Rear Holder Constraints

The lens accepts 72mm front filters without increasing its physical length. A rear filter holder is also included for sheet-type filters. Vignetting can appear at the widest aperture, especially with thick front filters. Stopping down reduces corner shading in most scenes.

Maximum Aperture f/1.4

The f/1.4 maximum aperture is the specification that determines low-light capability and depth-of-field control. It enables faster shutter speeds for night skies or dim interiors. Buyers who need a smaller, lighter wide-angle lens for travel may prefer a slower aperture design.

Questions about this item

Should I pick the 20mm f/1.4 Art lens or a narrower focal length for astrophotography?

The 20mm f/1.4 Art lens gives an ultra-wide field of view and a bright f/1.4 aperture, letting you capture expansive night skies with short exposures and minimal star trailing.

How does the f/1.4 aperture perform when shooting handheld at night?

At f/1.4 the lens gathers ample light, enabling faster shutter speeds and lower ISO settings for cleaner handheld night shots with shallow depth of field.

What does the 72mm filter thread allow me to use with this lens?

The front 72mm thread accepts the included Tiffen UV and circular polarising filters, plus any standard 72mm screw-in filter, without vignetting on the wide 20mm view.
