Wide-Angle Prime for L Mount

The SIGMA 20mm f/2 DG Contemporary is a full-frame compatible prime lens built for L-mount mirrorless cameras. Its 94.5° angle of view suits landscape, architectural and environmental photographers who want a fast, wide perspective in a compact form factor.

Optical Construction Benefits

The lens uses 13 elements in 11 groups to minimise distortion and aberrations across the frame. This advanced design delivers high edge-to-edge sharpness and pleasing bokeh, allowing mirrorless users to capture detailed wide-angle scenes without the bulk typically associated with such optics.

Close-Focus Capacity

A minimum focusing distance of 8.7" (22cm) and a maximum magnification ratio of 1:6.7 enable detailed close-up work alongside wide vistas. The lens handles expansive scenes and near-subject detail comfortably, though it does not reach true macro magnification for extreme close-up requirements.

Questions about this item

Will the aperture blades or focus mechanism need servicing after heavy use?

The lens uses 13 elements in 11 groups with a stepping motor for focus; no user-serviceable parts are specified, so professional cleaning is recommended if dust enters.

What optical limit appears first when shooting wide open at f/2 for long sessions?

At f/2 the 94.5° angle of view can show corner softness and vignetting before diffraction or overheating become factors.

How warm does the barrel get and how loud is the motor during all-day video recording?

The compact metal barrel stays warm but not hot, and the stepping motor runs near-silently, making it suitable for continuous video work.
