Wide-angle APS-C prime with f/1.4 aperture for low-light and shallow depth-of-field control
The Sigma 23mm f/1.4 DC DN Contemporary is a wide-angle prime lens built for Canon RF-mount APS-C mirrorless cameras. Its fast f/1.4 aperture suits photographers who need bright, shallow-depth-of-field results in low light or indoor settings. The 35mm equivalent focal length of 37mm covers street, environmental portrait and everyday documentary work.
Passive optical design means the lens generates no operational heat and draws no electrical power beyond the camera body supply. A stepping motor drives the internal focusing system silently, so video recording stays free of focus-motor noise. Weather-sealed construction resists dust and moisture without adding active cooling requirements.
The 52mm filter thread accepts standard circular filters and the supplied lens hood. A brass bayonet mount ensures a secure, wear-resistant connection to the RF mount. The bundle adds a backpack, flash, memory card, filter kit, card wallet, 12 inch tripod, card reader, cleaning kit, blower brush, lens pen, neck strap and hand strap, reducing the need for separate accessory purchases. Not suited for full-frame shooters requiring native coverage or photographers needing zoom versatility.

Align the brass bayonet mount with the red dot on the RF body, twist until it clicks, then remove the rear cap; many forget to take the rear cap off before shooting.
The dust- and splash-resistant seals around the focus barrel and mount can wear over time; if they degrade, a service centre can replace the gaskets to restore protection.
At the maximum f/1.4 aperture, vignetting and corner softness are most visible; stopping down slightly reduces both before any thermal or mechanical limit is reached.
