Compact F2.8 Standard Zoom for L-Mount

The SIGMA 28-70mm F2.8 DG DN Contemporary is a full-frame zoom lens built for Leica L-mount mirrorless cameras. It covers a 28-70mm focal range with a constant F2.8 aperture in a body weighing 470 grams. The optical design uses three aspherical, two FLD and two SLD elements to control aberrations across the frame.

Suited for everyday carry.

Photographers who want a bright standard zoom that stays light on a full-frame L-mount body will find this lens practical for daily use. Its compact 7.2 centimetre diameter and 5.51 by 4.72 by 4.57 inch dimensions suit walk-around shooting. Buyers who need telephoto reach beyond 70mm or a wider maximum aperture than F2.8 should look at other options.

Constant F2.8 aperture across 28-70mm

The defining specification is the constant F2.8 maximum aperture maintained throughout the 28-70mm zoom range. This allows consistent exposure and depth-of-field control from wide-angle to short telephoto without stopping down when zooming. The 67 millimetre filter thread and 75.4 degree maximum angle of view support the intended standard zoom role.

Questions about this item

What comes in the box and do I need to buy a filter separately?

The lens includes front and rear caps. A 67 mm filter thread is built in, so any circular filter of that size screws on directly without an adapter.

How do I decide between this 28-70 mm F2.8 zoom and a prime or variable-aperture alternative?

This zoom covers 28 to 70 mm at a constant F2.8, weighs 470 g and measures 5.51 x 4.72 x 4.57 in, giving a single-lens solution for wide to short-tele work on L-mount bodies.

What does the 75.4-degree angle of view mean when I mount the lens on a full-frame L-mount camera?

At 28 mm the diagonal view is 75.4 degrees, matching a classic wide-angle perspective; at 70 mm the view narrows to a short-telephoto field suitable for portraits.
