Wide-angle prime for Sony E-mount

The Sigma 28mm f/1.4 DG HSM Art Lens is a full-frame wide-angle prime designed for Sony E-mount cameras. Its fast f/1.4 maximum aperture suits low-light work and shallow depth of field. The optical design uses two FLD and three SLD elements plus three aspherical elements to control aberrations. A Super Multi-Layer Coating reduces ghosting and flare for better contrast.

Aperture range and filter thread limits

The aperture stops down to f/16, which sets the minimum depth-of-field control available. Front filter threads measure 77mm, so only filters and accessories of that diameter fit directly. The bundled kit supplies a 77mm UV filter, a circular polariser and an FLD filter plus a tulip hood matched to this thread size. No other thread sizes are supported without step rings.

Simple mount with included protection

The lens mounts directly to any Sony E-mount body with no adapter required. Autofocus is driven by a Hyper Sonic Motor that allows full-time manual override by turning the focus ring. Weather sealing and a protective front coating help resist dust and moisture during outdoor use. The bundle adds a blower, cleaning pen, cloth, starter kit, pouch and cap keeper for routine maintenance.

Questions about this item

Is the f/1.4 maximum aperture usable wide open for low-light shooting?

The lens opens to f/1.4, providing a bright view for low-light work and shallow depth of field; the optical design with FLD, SLD and aspherical elements controls aberrations at that setting.

What filter thread does the lens use and what size filters are in the kit?

The lens takes 77 mm filters; the bundle includes a 77 mm UV filter and a 77 mm three-piece digital filter set (UV, CPL, FLD).

Does the Hyper Sonic Motor support full-time manual focus override on Sony E-mount bodies?

Yes, the Hyper Sonic AF Motor delivers quick, quiet autofocus and allows full-time manual focus override without switching modes.
