Wide-Angle Prime for Sony E

The Sigma 28mm f/1.4 DG HSM Art lens is a wide-angle prime built for Sony E-mount full-frame cameras. Its fast f/1.4 maximum aperture suits low-light work and shallow depth of field control. The optical design uses two FLD elements, three SLD elements and three aspherical elements to reduce aberrations. A Super Multi-Layer Coating suppresses ghosting and flare for improved contrast.

Optical Performance Under Extended Use

The combination of low-dispersion glass and aspherical elements maintains sharpness and colour accuracy during long shooting sessions. The Super Multi-Layer Coating continues to control flare when the lens faces strong or changing light. The rounded nine-blade diaphragm produces consistent bokeh across the aperture range from f/1.4 to f/16. The brass bayonet mount preserves alignment precision over repeated mounting cycles.

Installation and Common Issues

The lens attaches via the standard Sony E bayonet and the bundled 77mm UV filter threads directly onto the front element. The tulip hood fits the same 77mm thread and helps shade the front glass. Autofocus is driven by a Hyper Sonic Motor with full-time manual override for quick adjustments. Buyers who need a longer focal length or a zoom range will not be served by this fixed 28mm prime.

Questions about this item

Does the 28mm f/1.4 lens run hot or make noise during long shoots?

The Hyper Sonic Motor delivers quiet autofocus and the all-metal barrel dissipates heat well during extended use.

What camera body do I need to use this kit?

Any Sony E-mount body — full-frame or APS-C — will work; the lens mounts directly with no adapter.

Will the 77mm UV filter and hood fit my older 77mm-thread lenses?

Yes, both the supplied UV filter and tulip hood use standard 77mm threads and fit any lens with that diameter.
