Wired Cable Release for SD14 SD15 SD1 Merrill

The SIGMA CR-21 is a wired remote switch that plugs directly into compatible Sigma cameras. It gives photographers a physical shutter button away from the body to prevent vibration during exposure. The accessory is aimed at owners of the SD14, SD15 and SD1 Merrill models who want a simple tethered trigger.

Alternative to RS-31 Remote Controller

This release replaces the RS-31 wireless remote with a corded design that needs no batteries or pairing. The jump is worth it when you prefer a permanent wired link over radio reliability or when the original remote is unavailable. It removes the risk of signal drop-out during long sessions.

Simple Plug-In Installation

Connection is made by inserting the cable into the camera’s remote socket; no tools or configuration are required. The most common issue is a loose fit if the port is worn, which can cause intermittent triggering. Keeping the connector seated and the cable routed without tension avoids missed shots.

Questions about this item

Which Sigma cameras does the CR-21 cable release connect to?

The CR-21 is compatible with Sigma SD14, SD15 and SD1 Merrill digital cameras via their wired remote port.

How do you attach the CR-21 to the camera and what step is often missed?

Plug the cable into the camera's remote socket, then press the release button halfway to lock focus before pressing fully for the exposure.

What part of the CR-21 is most likely to need replacement after extended use?

The coiled cable and its connector endure repeated flexing, so the cable assembly is the component most likely to wear out over time.
