  • Optimised for APS-C sensor cameras to minimise vignetting
  • Quick attach and remove design maintains image quality

Purpose and compatibility

This adapter is made for the Sigma 85mm f/1.4 EX DG HSM lens and extends the existing hood to improve shading. It is intended for photographers using APS-C sensor cameras who want better flare control. The fit is precise and the accessory maintains the lens’s original handling.

Build quality and daily use

Constructed from durable, high-quality materials, the adapter protects the front element from dust and moisture while adding extra hood length. It attaches and removes easily, so you can switch between standard and extended shading in seconds. The design keeps the lens looking professional in any shooting situation.

Practical limits

The adapter is optimised for APS-C sensors; the supplier notes that using the related HA1030-01 model on larger sensors causes vignetting. This implies the same restriction applies here, so full-frame shooters should expect corner darkening. Buyers who need flare control on larger formats cannot rely on this accessory.

Questions about this item

What lens mount does the Sigma HA850-02 hood adapter use?

The HA850-02 attaches directly to the Sigma 85mm f/1.4 EX DG HSM lens hood, not to a camera mount.

What physical clearance does the HA850-02 adapter require?

It extends the existing lens hood length, so ensure your filter threads and front cap can accommodate the added depth.

How is the HA850-02 installed, and what step is often missed?

Screw the adapter onto the lens hood threads; the step often missed is confirming the hood is fully seated before adding the adapter.
