Bay Expansion Chassis

The Silverstone FS304-12G is a desktop server chassis that converts two 5.25-inch bays into a hot-swappable drive enclosure. It targets system builders and administrators who need to add removable bulk storage to an existing tower without occupying additional floor space. The aluminium body and rear fan provide active cooling for the installed drives.

Four-Drive Capacity and 12 Gbit/s Interface

Four 3.5-inch SAS or SATA drives sit behind a lockable front door, each connected through a 7-pin SATA or SAS main-passage connector. The backplane supports transfers up to 12 Gbit/s, limited only by the drive’s own transmission rate. Hot-swap operation requires no trays or screws, so drives can be exchanged while the system runs.

Build Integration and Cooling

The unit measures 146mm wide, 126mm high and 199mm deep, fitting standard 5.25-inch openings. Two SATA 15-pin power connectors feed the backplane and the single 80mm 3000rpm rear fan. Blue and purple LED indicators show power and access status per drive, while a triangle metal key lock secures the door against unauthorised removal.
