5U rackmount chassis for server builds

The Silverstone RM51 is a 5U steel chassis that accepts SSI-EEB, SSI-CEB, EATX, ATX, Micro-ATX and Mini-ITX motherboards. It ships with two Air Penetrator 184i PRO 180 mm fans at the front and provides eight PCI expansion slots for add-in cards. The case can be mounted upright in a rack or placed horizontally on a desk.

Upgrade from smaller rack cases when expansion

Builders moving from 4U or shorter enclosures gain room for CPU coolers up to 192 mm tall and graphics cards up to 455 mm long. The front panel supports a 360 mm radiator while the rear takes a 120 mm unit, so liquid-cooling capacity rises with the extra height. A second PSU can be added only if the 3.5 inch drive cage is removed.

Limits set by 5U height and PSU brackets

The primary PSU bay accepts units 160 mm to 190 mm deep; longer modules fit only after the drive cage is taken out. Rear cooling is restricted to one 120 mm or 140 mm fan plus two 80 mm slots, and the front maxes out at three 120 mm or two 180 mm fans. Front I/O offers one USB Type-C and two USB 3.0 ports with power, drive and dual LAN activity LEDs.
